On the 29th April at the Transport Museum in Covent Garden will be holding a conference regarding the future of station design.
This conference is particularly interesting as ideas will be discussed concerning energy efficiency in transport. For example, renewable energy systems will be integrated into the renovation design plans of many stations including Birmingham New Street Station.
Today I have been in contact with Carbon Trust, Network Rail, Birmingham City Council, the conference organisers and others in an attempt to obtain any information on the matter.
I have since managed to receive a press pass to the conference as well as a short follow up interview with the host and BBC presenter Maggie Philbin as well as several keynote speakers including Chris Green (ironic) and train enthusiast Mark Williams.
Hopefully solar panels will be a thing of the future in every station benefitting thousands of commuters as well as the environment itself.
Continue reading this blog for follow up articles on the conference as well as the interviews.

I’d be interested to know about your interviews from the FOSD conference. Feel free to comment any links to my blog.
Best wishes,
Dominic
